Description:
The following will instruct you on how to replace the JR2x hot end.
Process:
1) Heat the nozzle and remove the filament from the extruder/printer

2) Close the extruder assembly
--
3) Turn off and unplug the printer
--
4) Remove the six M6 screws from the back panel
-
Set the screws aside, you will need them for later
--
5) Remove the back panel and set aside
--
6) Pull the extruder pin, release the latch,
- Set the extruder pin aside
-
Remove the white adapter from the extruder assembly
--
7) Unplug the hot end wires (grey cord) and the extruder motor wires
- Use the solution RAMBo Detailed Wiring Diagram
-Step 3: Unplug the extruder motor(s) (Single-head: E0-motor / Dual-head: E0-motor, E1-motor)
-Step 6: Unplug the heater, fan(s), and thermistor(s) (Single-head: Heat0, Fan0, T0 / Dual-head: Heat0, Fan0, Fan2, T0, T1)

8) Unwrap the grey cord from the extruder motor wires
- Pull the grey cord through the slot under the extruder motor
- The hot end will still be attached to the machine but all the wires will be now unplugged

9) Remove the current hot end from the cross rods (Make sure to cut any zip-ties, if they are still on your hot end)

Use your second hand to keep the rod stable. First lift the hot end from left to right on the x-axis bearing.
- Second lift the hot end off the y-axis. Note there is a C-clip you are lifting the hot end off of near the front of the hot end

10) Feed the grey cord for the new JR2x hot end through the slot under the extruder motor.
11) Plug in the hot end wires (grey cord) and the extruder motors.
- Use the solution RAMBo Detailed Wiring Diagram
-Follow step 3 for “E0-motor” and “E1-motor”
-Follow step 6 for “Heat0”, “Fan0”, "Fan2", “T0”, and “T1”
- Pay close attention to the location and color orientation of each wire

12) Attach JR2x hot end to the cross rods
- First, clamp the hot end on to the y-axis bearing from back to front. Make sure the E-clip is pointing down and it lines up with the grove in the bearing slot. Also, make sure to lift up on the y-axis as you push down on the hot end to prevent the rod from bowing. This may require significant force.
- Second, clamp the hot end onto the x-axis bearing from right to left. Again, make sure to lift up on the x-axis while pushing down on the hot end to prevent the rod from bowing.
- Here is how it should look when done
13) You will need to remove the white adapter from the old hot end, remove the black clip with a flat head screwdriver, then press the small inner collar down and pull up on the tubing. To install the white adapter on the new hot end, press the white adapter down into the extruder assembly. Make sure it is properly seated in its slot (the latch should close on to the PTFE tube, not the white adapter)
- If not already done, press the PTFE tube down into the white adapter (this may require significant force), and secure it with the E-clip
Do this for both extruders

14) Calibrating the nozzle height

15) Updating the firmware
- Please follow the solution for the software you are using
-Updating Firmware with MatterControl

16) Testing the JR2x

Use the VIKI to test the hot end by using the “Preheat PLA” function
-
This will heat the nozzle and run the extruder fans
- Wait until the nozzle heats up to 220C. If successful and the fans are running smoothly, then turn the printer off.

18) Finishing Assembly

Once everything is working properly, replace the back panel on the printer.
