Description:
How to create and setup a dual color print for your AXIOM dual nozzle printer, this guide shows TinkerCad but the process is the same for whatever CAD program you use.
Process:
Step by step instructions with photos and links. Double check the links work before publishing!
1) We'll start off by designing a two inch cube. --
2) Highlight and then copy that design and then save this part as Cube1.
--
3) Create a new design and paste the Cube1 onto the build plane.
--
4) Now we will design a cylinder and set it on top of the cube.
--
5) Highlight and delete the cube out of this design so the cylinder is floating above the build plane.
--
6) Save this file as Cylinder1.
--
7) We now export the Cylinder1 design for 3D printing as a .stl file.
--
8) Now we will switch over to the Cube1 design and download that for 3D Printing as a .stl file.
--
9) Switch over to Apex, load in the Cube1 design.
--
10) Now we load in the Cylinder1 design.
--
11) Next we right click on the cube, and do the "dual extrusion merge" option.
--
12) The merge will set the cylinder on top of the cube and you should now see them as different colors.
--
13) You will want to choose the ABS Dual Color from the filament dropdown box on the left side of Apex. The only quality selection at this time is "standard".
--
14) Next we are ready to create the gcode so we can print the parts.
--
15) The cube will print from the primary nozzle (left) since it was the first stl we loaded. The cylinder will print from the secondary nozzle (right) since it was the second stl we loaded.
The colors of the parts in Apex are just a representation, the colors that will be printed will be decided by you and what color you load into what nozzle.
