Description:
This is an Experimental solution for dissolving HIPS material off of ABS parts.
Limonene Product Selection:
When printing HIPS as a support material for ABS, the eventual goal is to dissolve the HIPS leaving the ABS in tact. In order to do this you will need Limonene. Limonene is the chemical used to dissolve the HIPS and leave the ABS. However, it is important to be sure and purchase the proper Limonene as there are versions that will not work properly. D-limonene is the most readily available Limonene product but this is not the proper type of limonene to use. The correct type of limonene for dissolving HIPS support is called (R)-(+)-Limonene. The (R)-(+)-Limonene will effectively dissolve HIPS support and leave the ABS intact. This version is not as readily available as the d-limonene variant but it is the one Airwolf 3D recommends to use. The MSDS for (R)-(+)-Limonene is attached to the bottom of this solution.

Dissolving HIPS Process (EXPERIMENTAL):
- We have tried a few different mixtures but the best result has been with the use of Limonene and Isopropyl Alcohol.
- Mix the Limonene and Alcohol in a 1:1 ratio and soak the part in the solution.
- The use of a sonic cleaner is recommended as it will decrease the time involved.
